At The Carwash ...

Laughing through the
whole wash cycle.

Steve loves this place
At the Carwash

AT THE CARWASH
Ooh ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief
At the car wash
Workin' at the car wash, yeah
Come on and sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin' y'all
(Car wash, yeah)
Ooh!
Come summer the work gets kinda hot
This ain't no place to be if you planned on bein' a star
Let me tell you it's always cool
And the boss don't mind sometimes if you act a fool
At the car wash
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Talkin' about the car wash, yeah
Come on, ya'all and sing it for me
(Car wash)
Wooh oooh oooh
(Car wash, yeah)
Well, those cars never seem to stop coming
(Work and work)
Keep those rags and machines humming
(Work and work)
My fingers to the bone
(Work)

Trip to Ikea. International Relations Still Intact!

When I thought about going to Ikea I thought
maybe Grandpa would like the variety
in each of the departments.  Or, he might
like how bright and colorful things
are displayed.
Nope.

Grandpa liked the Swedish Meatballs
with mashed potatoes and the
Lingonberry drink.

He was so set on eating that
I couldn't get him to smile or
even look at me.

There were also a lot of little kids (3 and under) there.
Steve flirted with all of them and made me
stop periodically so he could chat
with one.  The mother's were
very nice about it.

It was a good day for International Relations!

It's the Little Things

Steve was already up when I got home from running.  He was sitting at the table chatting with Jim who was in the kitchen.

Me:  Morning Grandpa.  How are you this morning?
Steve:  Good! Good!  How're you?
Me:  I'm a little sad today.
Steve:  I can make you happy.

I knelt down and we hugged and he gave me a peck on the cheek.

It is the little things that make life worth it every time.

Main Street Burger

Some foods have gotten too complicated
for Steve.  Sandwiches and burgers
top the list.  He dismantles them
and then isn't always sure
what to do with the
pieces.

Tuesday
Bob and Andrew
were in town and they
wanted to try Main Street Burgers.
I was praying there would be something
Steve would eat without me having to feed him.

Steve saw a hot dog on the menu he wanted to try!
Yay!  I ordered a Caprese burger with balsamic
and frest mozzarella. Mmmmmm...
Steve ate most of his food. Saw
mine and ate 1/3 of
my burger.

Life is good.

Andrew finding a drink option from the
100 listed.

Bob was faster at it.

Grandpa was happy to be with
his boys!! (and me)

WARNING!! NOT A PC POST!!

Steve and I went to get the car washed at
The Delta Queen
on Hamilton near 17.

Steve LOVED the ducks!
And then...

...Steve saw the carp.
He was so excited about the white!
and orange ones!
And then...

 "I need a gun or a pole!"

Not PC dude.  Not PC.

The Great Escape (2015 not 1963)

Yesterday Grandpa decided he wanted to go for a walk which is usually fine.  BUT... I was in the middle of grilling dinner.  I brought him outside with me but he wanted to try the steps.  With the walker.  Without my help.  ("No, no, I'm good.")  Ummm.

We went back inside and I found a Giants baseball game for him and he seemed content.  For a few minutes.  I would run outside every 5 to 7 minutes for about 1 minute to flip the chicken.  I ran back in to find Grandpa using his walker inappropriately.

Grandpa, whatcha doin'?
I wanna go for a walk.
I know.  After dinner we can go.
Can't we go now?
I need to finish cooking, then we can go.
Oh.  I'll wait right here.

Now he is walking backwards to the door...
Very subtle Grandpa.
