Hey Grandpa!  How's that Pepsi?
Good.

Are you going to share your Haagen-Das
Strawberry Ice Cream?
I don't think so.

A Blue One with A Bike Rack

This is Grandpa in his new shirt and hat.  Sharp!

We were at the Mini Dealership getting the
oil changed.
Grandpa likes the blue one with the
rack for the bicycle.
It will match his eyes.... :-)

Grandpa Mad Dawg

Okay, so I don't have a picture to go with this but it is so funny I had to share.

Grandpa was taking a nap on the couch and had been asleep for about 10 minutes.  If he is power napping it is typically 20-30 minutes.  If it is after lunch he typically sleeps for 1-1 1/2 hours.  So, I thought I was pretty safe to go out to the garage for 5 minutes and ponder dinner options.  Why the garage to ponder dinner options?  Why not?

Okay, moving on... I came back inside to the kitchen and heard Grandpa moving from the living room.  I thought erroneously.  Grandpa suddenly (okay, it was suddenly for him since I thought he was in the living room!)  rounds the hall corner and I turn to find him with white foam covering his mouth and chin!  I gulped and then glanced down.  He is holding Lauren's toothbrush in his hand.  And then I laugh.  Steve gives me a quizzical look and says, ...

"Do you have a towel?  I'm done [brushing]."

It was all I could do to hold it together.  So hilarious!

(And, yes, for those who are wondering, I bought Lauren a new toothbrush already.)

Rebekah Writes

Grandpa reading Rebekah's latest letter.

Steve:  Hey!  This is for me.
Me:  Yup.  It's from Rebekah.
Steve:  [She's] written me before.
Me:  Yes, she has.
Steve:  Where are [my other] cards?
Me: (handing them to him) Here they are.
Steve:  Give me a minute.

Steve proceeded to read through each of the cards again.  He was so pleased.

Thank you again Rebekah for being so thoughtful!

Question: What do you do when you turn 88?

Answer? .....ANYTHING YOU FREAKING WANT!

You start with a chocolate chip muffin and lemon chamomile tea at Noah's Bagels.

...And you finish the muffin with nary a
crumb spilled.

Then we headed over to the Willow Glen Farmer's Market for some fresh strawberries and blueberries.  So sweet!  We love summer fruit.

We had a great lunch with friends but we forgot to take pictures because
we were having so much fun!

Off to San Jose Giants Baseball Game!
Terrible hit!

Can you see the resemblance?

Thanks for the shaded area SJ Giants!

We decided on one candle because 88 requires Fire Department stand-by firemen!

BLOW HARD!
... And Presents!

 More presents.

Steve:  I'm 42.
Me:  Um, no, you're 88!
Steve:  Not possible.
Steve McQueen Marathon!!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!

Shhhhh! No, really, shhhhhhh.

I don't think of our house as being noisy.  After living here for almost 16 years I have become 'house deaf'.  It's that squeak of the fourth stair in the middle, the hamster that eats at midnight, the water softener set for 3 a.m., the hall closet door that clicks and groans as you open it.  I just don't notice these things anymore.

But Steve does.

Steve woke up at 4:10 a.m. this morning because he 'heard something'.  I got him back to sleep in about 20 minutes but I was up for good.

I made the mistake of being too quiet with Connor as a baby and he woke at the smallest thing.  Tylor could sleep through a car wreck.  And Lauren?  Locomotive derailment with a fiery explosion and ensuing mayhem (cue the screams and sirens).

How do I retrain an 88 year old toddler?
