I haven't posted in a while obviously. Caring for an 89 year old takes up more time than caring for a toddler and I don't get the satisfaction of cuddling.
June 7th was Steve's birthday. We went to vote which was super fun. The precinct supervisor was so cute and had everyone stop and sing to Steve when she found out it was his birthday. We did lunch out and I made his favorite dinner. I made him wear a birthday hat while we sang to him. He was delighted.
It was a pretty quiet month overall. But Jim left for China for 19 days. It was sooo long. Grandpa knew Jim was gone and was cranky at times. I was too. It was hard to be on all the time during that trip.
July 1st, the day Jim got home, Steve forgot he couldn't walk well. We left to get his room ready for bed and he stood up and tipped over his wheelchair. He tore a hole behind his knee and was complaining about hurting but we put him to bed and he seemed fine. But Saturday morning he was in too much pain so we went to Kaiser emergency room. The x-ray didn't show anything but the CT scan showed a hairline fracture in his femur near his hip. Ugh. 5 days in the hospital and I had to stay with him to keep him calm. It was long.
We got home by ambulance. That was exciting.
Two weeks at home and he is cranky and getting better.
